General staff chief meets U.S. Pacific Commander

VGP - Senior Lieutenant General Phan Van Giang, Chief of the General Staff of the Viet Nam People’s Army in Ha Noi on December 14 received General Terrence J. O’Shaughnessy, commander of the U.S. Pacific Air Forces who is on a visit to Viet Nam.

At the reception, Terrence J. O’Shaughnessy informed the Vietnamese general staff chief of the working session with the Vietnamese Air Defenceand Air Force. 

He said that both sides discussed measures to promote cooperation in humanitarian support, search and rescue work, military medicine, and pilot training.

In turn, Mr. Giang said the air forces of both sides should enhance exchanges of delegations at all levels and information exchange, and share search and rescue experience.

Aerial medicine research, English training for Vietnamese officers, post-war recovery and search for U.S. servicemen missing during wars should be focused as well, he noted.
