Garment and textile exports reaches US $4.2 bil in first half

VGP – Though material price hiked sharply, Việt Nam earned US $4.2 billion from textile and garment export in the first half of the year, a year-on-year rise of 20%.

The US remained Việt Nam’s largest export market, with a turnover of US $2.4 billion, making up 57% of the country’s total revenues, the Việt Nam Textile and Garment Association (Vitas) said.
 The European Union (EU) came in second, generating US $780 million, while Japan ranked third with US $360 million.
 Textile and garment exporters set the goal to earn US $5.3 billion in the remaining months of 2008, Vitas Chairman Lê Quốc Ân said.
