France’s Order of Academic Palms conferred on Vietnamese Associate Professor

VGP - Consul-General of France in Ho Chi Minh City Vincent Floreani on July 19 awarded the Order of Academic Palms to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien, Vice Rector of the University of Economics and Law under Viet Nam National University -VNU Ho Chi Minh city, on behalf of the French President.

Mr. Vincent Floreani spoke highly of Dien’s contributions to Viet Nam-France relations, especially in education, adding that the Order honours his dedication to bilateral academic and educational cooperation. 

The professor is a scientist who has been active in international cooperation, with a focus on the Francophone language in Viet Nam.

In November 2017, he was the first Vietnamese person to become an official member of the France Academy of Overseas Sciences.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Francophone University Agency and is the President of the Francophone University Association in the Asia Pacific region.

Previously, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien was presented the National Order of the Legion of Honour, the highest order of France, and a knight-hood for his contributions to developing Vietnam-French relations.

The Order of Academic Palms, established in the early 19th century, is a noble decoration that the French Government bestows upon distinguished persons in the fields of education, science, culture, and arts.
