Most visitors came from China, Australia, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, France, Malaysia, and the US.

Visitors from China went up sharply by 111%. Some specialists attributed the sharp increase in number of Chinese guests to several promotion campaigns launched recently in some densely-populated cities.

Hồ Chí Minh City attracted the biggest number of international arrivals, 1.3 million, making up half of the country’s total visitors.

The tourism sector should seize opportunities to launch promotion and marketing campaigns to attract more visitors, especially through big cultural events such as the National Culture Week in the northern province of Thái Nguyên, and the 1,000th founding anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội, the specialists said.
