The port receives the 3,821TEU Alp Alexandrite (the largest container ship to ever arrive in Việt Nam)

The SP-PSA, the investor, is a joint-venture between the Việt Nam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines), Sài Gòn Port (SP) and Singapore’s PSA International.

Covering an area of 54 hectares, the US $240-million port is developed in two stages. In the first stage, the investor completed building a 600-m long pier, able to receive 80,000-ton ships and load/unload 1.1 million tons cargo.

Its loading capacity will be doubled to 2.2 million tons after the 2nd stage is finished.

Especially, from the SP-PSA International Port, cargos will be transported directly to the US without transiting via container terminals in Singapore or Hong Kong.

The port belongs to the 5th group of sea ports (located in Hồ Chí Minh City, Đồng Nai and Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu), promising to create a new driving force for socio-economic development in Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu and the surrounding localities.
