The US $80 million plant, funded by PetroVietnam Biofuel Joint Stock Company (PVB), will use sugar-cane and cassava as input materials.

The plant is part of the national project on bio-fuel development until 2015, with vision to 2025.

Once coming into operation after the 18-month construction, the plant will generate a cheap bio-fuel source for making petrol, a step to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide.

Besides the environmental benifits, the work will also create an impetus for local economic development through generating more jobs and promoting the cultivation of material crops.
