Finalizing preparations for the building of governmental data center

VGP – Việt Nam and the Republic of Korea plan to deepen their bilateral ties in information technology field, especially focusing on the construction of an e-governmental information data center of Việt Nam.

During their talks held in Hà Nội on May 14, Minister-Chairman of the Vietnamese Government Office Nguyễn Xuân Phúc and Korea’s Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Security Kang Dyung Kyu exchanged views on ways to buff up the information technology sector in Việt Nam through mature experience learned from Korea.

Minister Phúc revealed the draft national program on IT application in State agencies during the period of 2011-2015. He also said that Việt Nam is determined to fulfill the process of e-government development and wants to learn experience of Korea.

He highlighted the effective cooperation of Korean specialist in helping Việt Nam complete the feasibility study for its first e-governmental information data center. He also urged for more ODA and manpower supports from Korea to realize the follow-up steps.

Deputy Minister Kang pledged to spare no effort to implement the cooperation project with Việt Nam.

A memorandum of understanding on building the governmental information data center was signed in May 2009 in Seoul by Minister, Chairman of the Vietnaemse Government Office Nguyễn Xuân Phúc and Korea’s Permanent Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Security Kang Dyung Kyu.

The Việt Nam Government Web Portal (VGP) was assigned to design and work with Korean partners, including Samsung Data Systems, the feasibility study for the project.
