Exports up 14.4% in 9 months

VGP – Viet Nam’s exports in the first nine months of 2014 grew 14.4% year on year, the most remarkable achievement recorded by sectors and industries.

Over the period, 21 items joined the US$1 billion export club and 24 others earned more than US$750 million in export turnover, each.

Phones topped with US$17.26 billion, followed by garment US$15.52 billion, computers and spare parts US$7.49 billion and footwear US$7.44 billion.

Among 63 provinces and cities, Ho Chi Minh City ranked first with the turnover of US423.28 billion, Bac Ninh Province cam second with US$16.07 billion, followed by Binh Duong Province US$12.31 billion, Dong Nai Province US$9.68 billion and Ha Noi US$8.1 billion.

As many as 31 localities enjoyed export turnover of over US$1 billion and 10 witnessed the value of more than US$2 billion.

Exports to 31 out of the country's 75 markets saw the turnover of over US$500 million.

The US is the largest trade partner of Viet Nam with its export and import topping US$20.85 billion and US$16.23 billion, respectively.

The nation’s export and import turnover for the full year is estimated to reach US$150.5 billion and US$147.6 billion.
