Exports of vegetables, fruits up 10%

VGP – The exports of vegetables and fruits over the first five months of 2019 witnessed an increase of 10.3% against the same period last year, reaching US$1.83 billion, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Viet Nam gained US$424 million from exporting vegetables and fruits in May. 

China took the lead in importing Viet Nam’s vegetables and fruits, making up 74.26%, followed by the U.S. 3.16%, the Republic of Korea 3.03% and Japan 2.53%. 

Markets witnessed sharp increases such as Australia up 39.9%, the Netherlands 29.22%, the Republic of Korea 25.53% and France 24.81%. 

The nation’s imports of fruits and vegetables in May were estimated at US$228 million, raising the total import value to US$878 million in five months, a year-on-year increase of 46%.
