The event was organised by the National Committee for the Advancement of Women in Viet Nam (NCFAW), Oxfarm, the Centre for Education Promotion and Empowerment of Women (CEPEW) and the Centre for Studies and Applied Sciences in Gender, Family, Women and Adolescents (CSAGA).

The workshop attracted representatives from many provincial and municipal Departments of Information and Communications, the Party Commission for Communication and Education and news agencies.

Ngo Thu Ha from the CEPEW shared the results of the organisation’s studies in Thai Nguyen, Binh Dinh and Vinh Long provinces about local residents’ trust and choice of female officials in the political system.

Ha and CSAGA Director Nguyen Van Anh suggested specific ideas to improve communication skills for reporters and officers whose jobs are related to gender and gender equality, as well as activities and solutions to improve communication about women’s participation in the upcoming votes.

In addition, the delegates discussed the participation of female deputies in the People’s Councils, Party Committees, the leadership of state agencies, and the planning and training of female cadres.

They suggested strengthening Party guidelines in female personnel affairs and gender equality and communication to improve awareness and change people’s behavior on gender equality, particularly in the political sphere.

It’s important to have a strategy to train female scientists and managers for sectors at all levels, delegates said.
