Eight returnees confirmed positive for Covid-19

VGP – Viet Nam confirmed eight new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, bringing the patient tally to 1,482.

All of them are Vietnamese brought home from Germany, Chinese Taipei and France, according to the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

Specifically, patient 1475 is a 62-year-old woman in Nha Trang city of the south central coastal province of Khanh Hoa.

Patient 1476 is a 31-year-old man in Hung Ha District, Thai Binh Province.

Both of them were repatriated from Germany on December 18, 2020 and quarantined in Hung Yen Province.

They are being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

Patient 1477 is a 34-year-old woman in Chi Linh District, Hai Duong Province.

She took flight QH9511 from Chinese Taipei to the Mekong Delta province of Can Tho on December 30, 2020 and was quarantined in Tien Giang Province.

The patient is being treated at Tien Giang’s Long Dinh field hospital.

Patient 1478 is a 29-year-old man in Phu Tho town of Phu Tho Province.

Patient 1479 is a 48-year-old man in Thanh Hoa city of Thanh Hoa Province.

Both of them were brought home from France on December 31, 2020 and quarantined in Hoa Binh Province.

They are being treated at the Hoa Binh General Hospital.

Patient 1480 is a 35-year-old woman in Lang Giang District of Bac Giang Province.

Patient 1481 is a 29-year-old man in Ha Noi’s Nam Tu Liem District.

Both of them took flight VN0018 from France to Quang Ninh Province on December 31, 2020.

They are being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ha Noi’s Dong Anh District.

Patient 1482 is a 32-year-old man in Ia Pa District of the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai.

He flew from Malaysia to Can Tho on December 31 and was quarantined in Bac Lieu Province.

The patient is being treated at the Bac Lieu General Hospital.

The same day, 12 more patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the total recoveries to 1,337.

Also on Saturday, the National Steering Committee confirmed that it had found an infection case with new and more transmissible variant of the virus that first emerged in the UK.

The aforesaid case is a 44-year-old woman in Nguyet Hoa Commune, Chau Thanh District of the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh.

She was among 305 passengers onboard the flight VN50 from the UK that landed at the Can Tho International Airport on December 22.

She was confirmed positive for Covid-19 on December 25, 2020 and have been treated at the Tra Vinh Hospital for Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases.

Her husband, who is living in the UK, had tested positive for Covid-19, according to the National Steering Committee./.
