Accordingly, local authorities may decide to reopen secondary and continuing schools on March 2 as recommended earlier.

Meanwhile, kindergartens, elementary and junior high schools may still be shut for a further one or two weeks later.

All localities were asked to direct schools to seriously comply with preventive measures to ensure safety for their students and staff in accordance with instructions of the Ministry of Health.

Earlier, on February 22, the ministry suggested leaders of provinces and cities consider reopening of schools on March 2, and decided to extend the time frame for the 2019-2020 academic year due to the impacts of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Under the adjust time frame, the school year will end by June 30, around one month later than the normal schedule./.
