EC to fund a project for the poor in northern mountains

The PM also allowed the Minister to authorize the Chairpersons of the People’s Committees of Cao Bằng and Bắc Kạn Provinces to make decisions on the investment in some constructions and activities conducted under the Project in these provinces. The PM agreed the duty-free import of some automobiles and motorbikes in line with the financial pack between the Vietnamese Government and the EC in the set quantity and category.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is responsible for the content of the Project and collaborates with the two provincial People’s Committees in directing the effective implementation of the Project.

The Project “Development for the poor in northern mountainous provinces" is planned to be realized in five years (2006-2010), improving the living standards of households in four poorest and remote areas of Cao Bằng and Bắc Kạn.
