Duration of work permit

Question: (Ms. Nguyen Phuong Lan from HCMC) Is a foreigner allowed to sign a work contract in indefinite time? In case a work contract was renewed for a third time, should it still be categorized as a termed contract?

Answer:

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs said that  under the Labor Code, the duration of a work permit must not exceed two years. Content of the labor contract must match with the content of the labor permit. A labor contract with indefinite time is a contract in which the two sides do not define time for contract termination.
