Dubai Ports World to launch new terminal in VN in October

VGP – The Dubai Ports World (DP World) will, on October 1, inaugurate its modern Saigon Premier Container Terminal (SPCT), a joint venture between the global marine terminal operator and Việt Nam’s Tân Thuận Industrial Promotion Company.

Soài Rạp River

The SPCT is located in the Soài Rap River, 15 km away from Hồ Chí Minh City.

Cargo that currently moves through port facilities along the Đồng Nai and Sài Gòn Rivers will rush in the SPCT when some terminals in the Sài Gòn River are scheduled to be closed in the next few years.

Peter Wong, DP World’s Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Asia Region, said that SPCT is strategically positioned to serve not only Hồ Chí Minh City but also the surrounding industrial zones.

With a 500-meter wharf and five cranes put into operation in Phase I, SPCT can easily receive the largest vessels currently calling at Hồ Chí Minh City Port.
