DPM welcomes Myanmar’s guest

VGP – Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue hosted a reception for Chairman of Myanmar’s Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) U Than Htay who was on a working visit to Viet Nam on December 19.

On behalf of the Government, Mr. Hue expressed the pleasure to welcome the Myanmar’s delegation and the Chairman; praised socio-economic achievements which Myanmar achieved and voiced his support for Myanmar’s effort to build and nurture peace. 

Regarding the bilateral ties, the Deputy PM said, the comprehensive relations have been broadened especially following the trip of Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to Myanmar in August, 2017 and the visit of Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi to Viet Nam in April, 2018. The two-way trade turnover surged by 15-18% per year and is about to touch US$ 2 billion. Viet Nam is the seventh largest FDI investor in Myanmar by pouring in US$ 2 billion. The two countries have cooperated closely in politics, national defense, and at bilateral and multilateral forums. 

In return, the guest stressed that the USDP will spare no effort to beef up ties with Viet Nam.

He said the USDP will support the investment and business activities of Vietnamese firms in Myanmar for mutual benefit.

The Chairman informed the host about the outcomes of the talks between the USDP and the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV)./.
