DPM chairs meeting in response to Storm Rammasun

VGP – Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai on July 17 hosted an online meeting on measures to respond to Storm Rammasun.

It saw the participation of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control, the National Committee for Search and Rescue and coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh.

This is the second meeting chaired by the Deputy PM Hai in preparation for the storm.

The Deputy PM asked for checking critical positions, closely following the storm course as well as alerting local people living by rivers and streams of potential flood and landslides to take precautionary measures.

Functional agencies were requested to  cooperate with localities, ship owners and captains to inform 58,685 boats, ships and aquaculture farms and 205,035 laborers about the happenings of the storm so that they could take shelters.

The Central Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre said at 4.00 am on July 17, the eye of the storm was at 20.7 degrees north latitude, 108.2 degrees east longitude, and about 460 km east-southeast from Hoang Sa Island (Paracel Island).

Typhoon Rammasun heads towards Quang Ninh and Hai Phong.
