Diplomatic sector to maintain peaceful, sustainable development in 2018

VGP – The most crucial tasks of the diplomatic sector are to maintain peaceful and sustainable development, attract external resources to serve sustainable development, protect the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and upgrade the status and role of the country.

Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh on January 15 chaired a meeting on reviewing works in 2017 and identifying orientations and tasks for diplomatic works in 2018 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy PM Minh affirmed that diplomatic achievements in 2017 are attributed to the leadership of the Party and State leaders, the close coordination between diplomatic workforces and the contributions of the whole political system.

He asked to highlight the spirit of activeness and creativeness to improve the effectiveness of diplomatic works, and announced the theme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2018 that is activeness to uphold a favorable environment for development and international integration.

Delegates at the meeting consented that the diplomatic works of the Party and State have been launched synchronously and effectively, helping maintain a peaceful and sustainable environment to serve the development and improve the status of the nation.

The successful organization of Viet Nam APEC 2017, enhancement of comprehensive international integration and other diplomatic activities such as cultural diplomacy and information, protection of overseas Vietnamese and foreign affairs are the focus of the year.
