He reiterated Viet Nam’s political commitments to negotiating and realising the terms of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) for the benefit of all TPP members.

Ninh also expressed hopes that the US will grant flexibility, carefully consider Viet Nam’s core interests pertaining to textiles and garments, footwear, agriculture, fisheries and support Viet Nam in realizing TPP regulations.

For his part, the Under Secretary informed his host about the results of working sessions with Vietnamese relevant agencies, adding that his visit preludes the growth of bilateral relations in 2015 - the year marks the 20th anniversary of the two nations’ diplomatic relations.

He said his visit is designed to compare notes on TPP negotiations and implementation and issues of shared concern such as opening the market for goods and services, particularly those which are said to generate huge benefits to both countries when TPP becomes effective.

As a result, Viet Nam’s exports could explode 28%, thus significantly impact domestic economic growth, he noted.

On the day, the US official was greeted by head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Vuong Dinh Hue who suggested the US quickly recognise Viet Nam’s market economy.
