Deputy PM Dam made the request at a reception for Lao Health Minister Bounkong Syhavong in Ha Noi on June 26.

He spoke highly of the outcomes of the talks between the two countries’ health ministers as well as the implementation of cooperation programs and plans between the two health sectors over the past years.

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government and people always back and support the Lao Government and people in the process of national construction and renovation, whilst creating favorable conditions for cooperation programs between Viet Nam and Laos in various spheres, including the health sector.

Lao Health Minister Bounkong Syhavong briefed his host on the issues discussed by the two health ministries, in an effort to accelerate and expand medical cooperation between the two countries.

Expressing delight at the significant achievements attained by the two health sectors over the past years, Deputy PM Dam suggested that the health ministries of Viet Nam and Laos continue reviewing and evaluating the implementation results of the envisaged goals, whilst designing specific plans aiming to boost cooperation between the two countries’ health sectors in a more effective fashion.

He asked the two health ministries to direct relevant units to support the building and operation of the two Vietnamese-Lao Friendship Hospitals in the provinces of Houaphane and Xieng Khouang, seeking to ensure optimal efficiency.

In addition, the two health ministries need to promptly build an agreement in the health sector, aiming to facilitate medical quarantine work at pairs of border gates, contributing to fully implementing the “One-StopShop” model, the deputy PM noted.
