The child protection efforts are implemented collaboratively between all ministries, sectors and localities, aiming to create a safe and healthy living environment for children and provide the most favorable conditions for them to exercise their basic rights, including the rights to live, to be protected, to develop and to participate in.

Deputy PM Dam urged ministries, departments and sectors, which are members of the National Committee for Children, to review, revise and supplement support policies for children living in special circumstances, in accordance with the Child Law and the Government’s Decree No. 56/2017/ND-CP detailing a number of articles of the Child Law.

He asked ministries, sectors and localities to take effective measures to protect children; direct the allocation and integration of resources to implement child-related programs and projects in the 2016-2020 period; and execute the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), as well as the recommendations proposed by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child toward the report on the implementation of the UN Convention and international treaties related to children, to which Viet Nam is a signatory.

The Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMYU) Central Committee, need to organize all-level youth unions to receive information directly from the national hotline for child protection (111) and participate in supporting children under or at risks of violence and abuse, Dam said.

He asked provincial-level People’s Committees to strengthen communication aiming to raise awareness of child protection measures, whilst strictly handling child violence and abuse cases in their localities.

Standing agencies of the National Committee for Children are responsible for providing needed information, documents and conditions, so that members of the committee could perform well their tasks toward the matters related to children and the enforcement of the rights of the child, he stated.
