Deputy PM, FM Khiêm receives foreign ambassadors

VGP - Deputy PM, FM Phạm Gia Khiêm on August 18 had separate receptions with the leaving Canadian Ambassador Gabriel M. Lessard and the newly-appointed Portuguese Antonio Felix Machado de Faria.

Deputy PM, FM Khiêm appreciated the Canadian Ambassador for his great contributions to the positive development of the relationship between Việt Nam and Canada.

Over the past years, Canada's official development assistance (ODA) to Việt Nam has been maintained at a high level, around US $30 million per year. The two-way trade turnover reached US $1 billion in 2007. At present, Canada owns 70 FDI projects in Việt Nam.

The host expressed his hope that the Canadian Ambassador will continue to be Việt Nam's close friend who help speed up the advancement of the bilateral traditional relations and comprehensive cooperation.

At the reception with Portuguese Ambassador Antonio Felix Machado de Faria, Deputy PM, FM Khiêm confirmed that the Vietnamese Government will offer best conditions for the Ambassador to obtain a fruitful performance in Việt Nam.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Deputy PM, FM Khiêm thanked Portugal for its supports to Việt Nam's accession to the World Trade Organization and its run-up to the United Nations Security Council.
