CPI slightly increases in January

VGP – The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in January 2019 increased 0.1% against December 2018 and witnessed a year-on-year increase of 2.56%, according to the General Statistics Office.

The prices of nine groups picked up against the previous month, including beverage and tobacco up 0.69%, restaurants and food services up 0.66%, garments, hats and footwear up 0.39%, housing and building materials up 0.35%, commodities and other services up 0.34%, culture, entertainment and tourism up 0.33%, equipment and household appliances up 0.16%, education up 0.15% and medicines and health service up 0.01%. 

Only two groups recorded decreases in prices including transport down 3.04% and telecommunications down 0.09%. 

The core inflation in January rose 1.83% against the same period last year.
