CPI posts record low in 11 years

VGP – The nation’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 2.36% over the past ten months of the year, the lowest figure ever recorded over the past 11 years.

According to the General Statistics Office, the CPI in October rose 0.11% compared to September. The education service saw the highest increase among calculated items with 1.31%, followed by medicine and health service with 0.53%.

Other commodities witnessed slight rises such as food and restaurants up 0.05%, foodstuff up 0.15%.

Two out of the 11 commodities calculated faced decreases in prices such as construction materials down 0.08%, transportation down 1.02%.

Gold price continued to fall, by 2.82%, while the price of US dollar saw a light rise of 1.18% from a month earlier. 

The CPI in the two largest cities including Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City rose 0.04% and 0.03%, respectively.
