CPI in June decreases 0.09%

VGP – The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June 2019 decreased 0.09% against the previous month and saw respective increases of 1.41% and 2.16% compared to December 2018 and the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office.

Three groups reported decreases in prices in comparison with the previous month such as transport (down 1.73%), housing and building material (down 0.2%) and telecommunications (down 0.1%). 

Eight among 11 commodities announced increases in prices including beverage and tobacco (up 0.33%), education (up 0.23%), culture, entertainment and tourism (up 0.2%), equipments and household commodities (up 0.14%), garments, hats and footwear (up 0.14%), restaurants and food services (up 0.12%), medicine and health service (up 0.05%) and other commodities and services (up 0.15%).  

The average CPI in the first half of 2019 picked up 2.64% in comparison with the same period last year. 

The core inflation in June rose 0.16% compared to the previous month and saw a year-on-year increase of 1.96%. 

The average core inflation over the recent six months of 2019 hiked up 1.87%.
