CPI in August up 0.45%

VGP – The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in August 2018 rose 0.45% against the previous month and witnessed a year-on-year increase of 3.98%, according to the General Statistics Office.

The CPI over the recent eight months of the year picked up 3.52% compared to the same period last year. 

Ten out of the 11 commodities in the calculation basket witnessed increases in prices, including restaurants and food services (0.87%), education (0.46%), housing and building materials (0.44%), culture, entertainment and tourism (0.19%), transport (0.13%), beverage and tobacco (0.11%), garments, hats and footwear (0.1%), equipments and household commodities (0.1%). 

The prices of other groups, including medicines and health service, goods and other services also saw respective increases of 0.02% and 0.13%. 

Only the price of telecommunications decreased by 0,07%. 

The core inflation in August 2018 rose 0.22% in comparison with the previous month and up 1.54% against the same period last year. The average core inflation over the recent eight months witnessed a year-on-year increase of 1.38%.
