Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam made the statement at the Commercial Counselors' Meeting 2013 in Ha Noi on December 18.

To bring into full play the role of commercial counselors and trade officials posted abroad, the Deputy PM stressed on the cooperation between ministers, agencies, localities and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) in promoting and expanding foreign markets.

According to the report provided by the MIT, total export turnover in 2013 is estimated to reach US$133 billion, exceeding the National Assembly’s plan for the year (US$126.1 billion).

Viet Nam’s products have appeared at more than 200 nations and territories around the world.

To achieve the success, overseas commercial counselors and trade missions have created a connection system between domestic and foreign markets.

Trade and industry Minister Vu Huy Hoang proposed overseas commercial counselors and trade officials respect export driven activities, expand foreign markets and call for more Foreign Direct Investment in industrial and commercial projects.

Viet Nam now has 55 commercial missions, seven branches, one trade promotion center and 122 counselors operating in industry and trade abroad.
