The norm is set in the socio-economic planning scheme for the Chu Lai EZ (to 2020) recently approved by Minister of Planning and Investment Võ Hồng Phúc.

Some targets by 2020:

Export value: US $335–340 million

Budget collection: VND 5,880–6,000 billion

Employment: 160,000–170,000 workers

Contributions to the province: 50% of production value, 50–52% of budget collection, 56–57% of export value, and 50–52% of employment.

Accordingly, Chu Lai will become an industrial-tourism-service center in the key economic region of Central Việt Nam.

By 2020, a number of major industrial parks will be founded there, including Bắc Chu Lai (630 ha), Trường Hải (243 ha), Tam Anh (1,915 ha), and the Tam Thăng Hi-tech Park (300 ha).

With a population of 650,000 in 2020, the EZ needs many educational facilities, such as a 295-ha vocational training center, Chu Lai international high school, and some people-run universities.

The EZ will be expanded to the west and north.
