Chinese accounts for over 30% of foreign workers in VN

VGP – Up to 25,700 Chinese people are working in Viet Nam, accounting for 30.9% of total foreign workers in the country, heard a seminar organized by the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The seminar on June 19 shared experience on realizing social insurance for foreign workers and launching the bilateral agreements on social insurance.

The number of foreign workers increased from 12,600 in 2004 to more than 83,500 in 2015.

Licensed foreign workers made up 93% of the total number of foreigners in Viet Nam.

Foreign laborers working in Viet Nam come from 110 nations, mainly from Asian nations and territories such as China, the Republic of Korea (more than 15,300), Taiwan (10,700 ) and Japan (7,900).

Ho Chi Minh City attracted the largest number of foreign workers with 20,300 ones, accounting for 24.3%. It was followed by the southern province of Binh Duong with 12,000 (making up 14.4%), the central province of Ha Tinh with 7,000 (8.4%), Ha Noi, 6,386 (7.6%) and the southern province of Dong Nai, 6,205 (7.4%).
