PM Dung made the statement when chairing the Government’s January regular meeting at the Government’s head quarters in Ha Noi on January 30.

He urged the members to focus on enhancing macro-economic stability, easing difficulties in production and trade, and improving the business environment.

He also sought ideas for strengthening economy competitiveness, realising strategic breakthroughs, restructuring agriculture in line with building new-style rural areas, innovating credit institutions and ensuring safety and thrift during Tet (new lunar year) holiday.

PM Dung said that the 2015 socio-economic development plan has been learned and implemented seriously and actively with specific action plans introduced by ministries, sectors and localities, bringing initial positive results.

However, the world oil price has dropped sharply, over a half compared to this year’s average price forecast for State budget’s turnover, PM Dung said.

According to general calculation, the oil price fall does not affect the growth target, State budget balance and inflation control in 2015, the Government leader added.

During the one-day meeting, Cabinet members heard and discussed the socio-economic situation in January; tax exemption on goods purchased and exchanged by residents along the shared border; policies to officers who are not old enough to be re-elected or re-appointed to tenure positions in Party and State agencies and socio-political organizations; and schemes on attracting excellent graduates and young scientists in 2014-2020 and examining food safety at district and commune levels in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.
