Addressing the forum, Deputy PM Phuc praised  developments in the bilateral ties in all fields including politics, diplomacy, economics and culture.

On trade and investment, the UAE is one of the largest economic partners of Viet Nam in the Middle East and North Africa. Two-way trade touched US$ 4.46 billion in 2013; surging 80% against 2012 and 63 times against 2002.

As of late November, 2014, Emirati investors poured US$ 135 million in eight projects in Viet Nam. Leading UAE corporations like DP World, IPIC, Emirates Investment Gate, and Dubai Holding paid special attention to their investment strategies in Viet Nam.

So far, Viet Nam sent 8,000 workers to the Persian Arab state. The figure is expected to go up to 20,000 in the next couple of years.

Mr. Phuc hoped that through the event, the business communities would have a good chance to understand each other and seize business opportunities.

The “Vietnamese Days in UAE” is expected promote cultural linkages between the two countries following the success of the Viet Nam Festival held in Abu Dahbi last November on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The same day, Deputy PM Phuc also participated in the Viet Nam-UAE Galar Dinner./.
