Boosting VN-Saudi Arabia cooperation ties

VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng agreed to establish the Vietnamese subcommittee under the Việt Nam-Saudi Arabia Inter-Governmental Committee for Cooperation in Economics, Trade, Culture, Science and Technology to boost bilateral ties.

The subcommittee is led by a Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and comprises members from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Construction, and the State Bank of Việt Nam.

The two-way trade turnover between Việt Nam and Saudi Arabia stood at US $455 million in 2009. Việt Nam exported US $103 million worth of products to Saudi Arabia and imported US $352 million.

Việt Nam mainly ships seafood, fabric, footwear, furniture, rice, nuts, coal and tea while importing plastic, iron, cars, and fertilizers from Saudi Arabia./.
