Belgium supports VN to win non-permanent seat on UNSC

VGP – Prime Minister Charles Michel told Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc that Belgium supports Viet Nam to win a seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) in the tenure 2020-2021 during his joint press briefing in Brussels on Tuesday.

Viet Nam was a non-permanent member of the UNSC in the 2008-2009 tenure.

Belgium also opposes to all unilateral actions that violate international law in the East Sea, said Michel, adding that his country will play an active role in this issue.

Regarding bilateral ties, Michel said the two sides disscussed on a wide range of matters in order to further accelerate trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Viet Nam and Belgium have agreed to step up cooperation in agriculture domain, according to Prime Minister Phuc.

The Vietnamese Government chief appreciated Belgium’s support for early signing of a free trade agreement between Viet Nam and the European Union.

Also at the press briefing, the two Prime Ministers witnessed signing ceremony of a MoU on establishment of bilateral political consultation and an agreement on strategic partnership in agriculture./.
