Aviation industry performs well in 2013

VGP – Viet Nam’s aviation industry grew 16.7% in 2013, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam.

The Vietnamese carriers transported 29.5 million passengers, including 14.5 million local passengers, and 630,000 tons of cargo in 2013, up 16.7% and 19.6% from 2012. 

The total number of visitors travelling through Viet Nam’s airports was 44 million on 325,000 flights, up 17.5% and 5.4%, respectively.

In 2013, Viet Nam Airlines launches international air routes from Da Nang City to Russia, China, the Republic of Korea and from Vinh City to Vientiane, Laos.

VietJet Air also launched new air routes from Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City to Bangkok, from Ho Chi Minh City to Buon Me Thuat and Quy Nhon and from Ha Noi to Hue and Buon Me Thuat.

Jetstar Pacific started new services from Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh, Buon Me Thuat, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang.

Currently, Viet Nam Airlines and VietJet Air are exploiting 52 international air routes to 30 cities in 17 countries and territories.

Meanwhile, 45 foreign airlines are launching 71 air routes from 22 countries and territories to Viet Nam.
