ASEAN Secretary General: Solidarity, unity shape bloc’s character

ASEAN has maintained its solidarity and unity on the basis of common commitments and collective responsibility for peace, stability and prosperity in the region, he said.

The bloc’s decisions are consensus-based to ensure that no member State is marginalized in addressing issues of common concerns, he added.

Mr. Minh said that the strength of ASEAN comes as a result of the integration model featured by the enhancement of mutual understanding, trust and cooperation.

With a combined GDP of US$2,500 billion, ASEAN will become the world’s 7^th largest economy with a diversified network of free trade agreements.
