ASEAN maritime forum opens in Da Nang

VGP - The 5th ASEAN Maritime Forum (AMF-5) was kicked off on August 27 in the central city of Da Nang, targeting to strengthen maritime cooperation through constructive dialogues and consultations and enhance the role of the AMF for peace, security, maritime safety and freedom of navigation in the region.

The 5th ASEAN Maritime Forum (AMF-5)

During the two-day forum, delegates talk further cooperation in humanitarian relief and mitigation of natural disasters, management and protection of maritime ecosystems, fishery resources, fish farming and maritime safety in the East Sea.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Deputy Head of SOM ASEAN Viet  Nguyen Vu Tu affirmed that maritime cooperation is an increasingly important issue that is given high priority by ASEAN member countries, given the current context.

As scheduled, the 3rd expanded ASEAN Maritime Forum (AMF-3) will also take place in Da Nang city on August 28and is expected to bring together representatives from 10 ASEAN member states and eight East Asia Summit (EAS) partners, namely China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand, Russia and the US./.
