Anti-corruption to be taught at schools

VGP – Under a plan just approved by the PM, by the end of 2011, the combat against corruption will have been included in education and training curricula in schools nationwide.

Anti-corruption is a compulsory subject for tertiary-level students in Việt Nam
since 2011
The plan aims to raise awareness of students, civil servants and officials in fighting corruption to launch a national-scale anti-corruption campaign.
The plan will be implemented at high schools, colleges, universities, and administrative institutions of the Party, State agencies, armed forces, and socio-political organizations.

School-level education on preventing and fighting corruption will focus on the conceptions in the Anti-corruption Law, such as causes, negative consequences of corruption and attitude of students towards corrupt acts.

Anti-corruption is also inserted into extra-curricular programs and activities for students to easily comprehend.

At colleges and universities, the teaching of anti-corruption will be deepened in order to encourage students’ cooperation with competent agencies in the combat against corruption.

The plan also aims at increasing ability for teachers and lecturers who are in charge of disseminating anti-corruption knowledge. Accordingly, 3-5 day workshops on anti-corruption will be regularly opened for them.
