Adjustments to HCM City Region Construction Master Plan ratified

VGP – The PM has approved the adjustments to the Ho Chi Minh City Region Construction Master Plan till 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Accordingly, the plan heads to develop Ho Chi Minh City into a dynamic and sustainable development urban area, a modern and large economic center of the nation and the Southeast Asian region as well as the center of culture, education-training, science-technology, and high-quality health in Southeast Asia. 

The city will be developed in a manner of sustainable balance and climate change adaption with high and sustainable economic growth and a trading center of the South and the nation, connecting key economic region in the South, Mekong Delta, Central Highlands and Central South. 

The plan will be applied to Ho Chi Minh City and its seven neighboring localities including Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Long an, Dong Nai and Tien Giang on the total areas of 30,404 km2. 

By 2030, the city’s population may reach 24-25 million, including 18-19 million living in urban areas and 6-7 million living in rural areas. The proportion of urbanization reached 70-75%. 

Ho Chi Minh City will be the nation’s largest economic area, playing connection and supporting roles in the region and the center of international trade of the region and the nation, the center of culture, intellectuality, science research, technology transfer, regional-level high tech, tourism, finance-banking, trade, service and logistics at international-level.
