The vaccine consignments arrive at Ho Chi Minh City-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport, July 15, 2021.

In response to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s recent request during his meeting with AstraZeneca and Viet Nam Vaccine JSC (VNVC), this delivery demonstrates the company’s accelerated vaccine supply efforts to urgently aid Viet Nam’s resilient fight against the pandemic.

The delivery today is the fourth and so far largest batch coming from the advance purchase agreement between AstraZeneca Viet Nam and VNVC, with the support of the Ministry of Health. Thanks to this agreement signed early in November 2020, Viet Nam was amongst the first countries in Southeast Asia to access a COVID-19 vaccine.

To date, this deal has brought to the country more than 1.9 million doses, which is equivalent to around 30 percent of all AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine supplies in the country.

A total of nearly 6.4 million doses of COVID-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca have been delivered into Viet Nam, via the advance purchase agreement with VNVC and the Ministry of Health; COVAX Facility; and bilateral donations between governments. AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine currently accounts for 71 percent of all vaccine supplies in the country.

AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine was the first to be authorized and supplied in large quantities in Viet Nam, to support the Government's national vaccination program. According to the Ministry of Health, as of 14 July 2021, more than 4 million doses of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across the country, helping to protect frontline workers and priority groups.
