Acting State President named

VGP – Vice State President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh has been named as Acting State President of Viet Nam following the death of State President Tran Dai Quang on September 21, according to an announcement by the National Assembly Standing Committee.

World leaders extend condolences over death of State President Quang

Top legislator Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan signed the document on September 23 on the basis of the Constitution, the Law on the Organization of the National Assembly, and the Conclusion of the Political Bureau on assignment of the Party Central Committee to hold the position of Acting State President of Viet Nam.

Mme. Thinh, who was born in 1959 in Quang Nam province, will hold the position until the National Assembly elects new State President of Viet Nam./.
