A dozen of power plants to go on-stream this year

VGP – The Electricity of Việt Nam Group (EVN) said that this year Việt Nam will see the debut of 15 new power plants in 2009, adding 3,570 MW to the national power grid.

EVN will put into operation nine electricity projects with a total capacity of 2,696 MW.

Accordingly, turbines of the Plêikrông hydro-power plant are expected to start working in March and May, Sê San 4 in August, October and December; Buôn Kuốp in March and June;  Buôn Tua Srah in August; Sông Ba Hạ in February and April; Bản Vẽ in December.

Three thermo-electricity plants will make their debut, Hải Phòng I in September and December, Quảng Ninh I in July and December, and Ô Môn I in February.

In addition, EVN has urged general contractors to restart the expanded Uông Bí I in March.

The group is also trying to inaugurate four coal-fueled power plants with a combined capacity of 3,800 MW, namely Nghi Sơn I in September, Mông Dương I in November, Duyên Hải I in September and Vĩnh Tân 2 in October.
