Lai Châu hydro-power plant to be built late this year

VGP – The VND 35,700-billion project aims at raising the capacity of the national electricity grid and balancing water flows to the lower regions of the Red River Delta, according to PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng’s recent decision.

The hydro-power plant will be built in Mường Tè District of the northern province of Lai Châu.

The Electricity of Viêt Nam is the investor of the 1,200MW project which will be completed in 2017.  The first turbine is scheduled to come into operation in 2016.

At least 1,331/5,867 households in eight communes and one town will move to new places to give room for the project.
