The move aims at bettering productivity and quality of key products, edging competitiveness of domestic enterprises, and contributing to national socio-economic development.

Between 2010 and 2015, the program sets general goals to define and synchronize 4,000 national standards for key commodities, of which 45% will be harmonized with international and regional criteria.

One hundred percent of products and commodities vulnerable to unsecured food hygiene and environment pollution will be managed under national standards.

Around 40,000 enterprises will be trained to apply scientific and technological advances, renew technologies, and adopt good management systems to perfect their productivity and product quality.

Especially, the program targets to raise the contribution of productivity of aggregate elements to the structure of GDP to 30% and 35% by 2015 and 2020 respectively.

In the period of 2016 to 2020, Việt Nam will introduce additional 2,000 national standards and match up 60% of its domestic standards with international and regional ones.

To successfully realize the set targets, the PM also gave a nod to nine separate projects in the areas of healthcare, construction, transportation, industry, agriculture, information and communications to improve made-in-Việt Nam products.

The Minister of Science and Technology, in collaboration with relevant ministries and agencies, was entrusted to form a governing body for the program.
