Fourteen int’l airlines to launch routes to Huế

VGP - Fourteen international airlines have lately inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch new flights to Thừa Thiên-Huế, the central province housing a UNESCO-recognized world heritage site.

The MoU was reached at a tourism promotion meeting on August 23 in Huế City with the participation of representatives from 50 airlines and travel agents from Southeast Asia, North Asia and Việt Nam.

Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Thiện, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that the Government had approved the upgradation of the Phú Bài International Airport in Huế to a major gateway to receive quite a few foreign tourists from the Mekong Subregion and the Asia-Pacific region.

The People's Committee of Thừa Thiên-Huế pledged to create most favorable conditions for international carriers which want to open commercial flights to Huế City, said the Chairman.

The province will provide preferential policies including financial supports for the airlines in their initial stage of operation.

The Central Region Airport Corporation will offer lower charges and fees services for the airlines which have intention to use some aviation services at the Phú Bài Airport.

In addition, bigger incentives will be granted to flights out of rush hours at the airport./.
