The 54-km expressway will join the Hồ Chí Minh City–Trung Lương Expressway, providing a springboard for the socio-economic, security, defense, and cultural development in the localities where the way runs through in particular and the Mekong Delta in general, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng said at the ground-breaking ceremony of the Trung Lương–Mỹ Thuận Expressway.

The national industrialization and modernization cannot be complete without a network of expressways, the PM stated, highly appreciating the investment of BIDV Expressway Development Joint-stock Company, whose the key founding shareholder is the Bank for Investment and Development of Việt Nam (BIDV), in the
project.
