Meet Vietnam 2009 opened in US

VGP – “Meet Vietnam 2009,” a program to introduce the Southeast Asian country’s economic, trade and investment prospects, was opened on November 16 in San Francisco, California, the US.

The event is considered a friendly greeting of Việt Nam to residents of the state of California and to the US.

Deputy PM Trương Vĩnh Trọng, accompanied by some 300 delegates, addressed the two-day event.

“Meet Vietnam 2009” was the first click for series of other on investment, economic, culture and education activities to highlight the country’s images there, stressed Deputy PM Trọng in his opening speech.

Over the past 20 years, innovation or “Đổi Mới” in Việt Nam has brought back numerous achievements in all fields and create a strong impetus for every citizen to work, he said.

Việt Nam is now a friendly, active country which sets itsself on a strongly progressive pace and wants to be a trustworthy friend of the international community.

The event is also good chance for overseas Vietnamese people in the US to update information and current situation of the Fatherland.

Both Senator of California State Loni Hancock and U.S. Ambassador to Việt Nam Michael W.Michalak noted that the event would help to cement the friendship and bilateral economic and trade linkages between the two countries.

After the opening ceremony, Deputy PM Trọng and delegates from Việt Nam and the US came to visit the showcase of Vietnamese culture and a book exhibition on Việt Nam’s innovation-based achievements.
