Mekong Aviation is expected to start operation by 2010.

With a fleet of ten cargo aircraft, Mekong Aviation plans to provide flights on domestic routes of Hà Nội-Phú Quốc, Hà Nội-Nha Trang, and Hà Nội–Cần Thơ. It is the third licensed private airlines in Việt Nam, after Indochina Airlines and Vietjet Air.

According Decree 76/2007/NĐ-CP issued by the Vietnamese Government on May 9, 2007, the minimum capital for a carrier to offer international and domestic flights is VND 500 billion and VND 200 billion respectively. A series of other requirements, especially on aviation safety and security, must be met too.

Việt Nam remains one of ten aviation markets with highest growth rate. So far, Việt Nam has six airlines, namely Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific Airlines, Vasco, Vietjet Air, Indochina Airlines and Mekong Aviation./.
