New ASEAN 2010 logo and website made public

VGP – The Việt Nam National Committee for ASEAN 2010 on Monday in Hà Nội announced the ASEAN 2010 logo and official website as Việt Nam takes over the presidency of ASEAN next year.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm underlined that it is a great honor and responsibility for Việt Nam to host and organize ASEAN 2010 when the country is making every effort to vigorously renovate itself and integrate into the world, contributing to a strong and united ASEAN. 

Besides taking over the ASEAN presidency, in 2010, Việt Nam will be the host country for a series of important events, including the 1000th anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội, World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia, ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), and the World Buddhist Summit.

Mr. Khiêm required that the website must be updated regularly with information about Việt Nam’s ASEAN presidency in order to serve ASEAN events.

The website ASEAN 2010: http://www.asean2010.vn with a vivid interface and impressive imprint of Việt Nam would provide official, updated and accurate information for both domestic and foreign users, said the Deputy PM.

The new ASEAN logo is symbolized from a propeller, a very simple and popular toy in Việt Nam

The three circles in moving posture illustrates the development of ASEAN in dynamic and sustainable manner.

They also forms an "A" – the first letter in ASEAN, and symbolize three major pillars of the  ASEAN Community: Political-Security (red), Economy (blue) and Socio-Culture (green).
