Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the above statement in his pre-recorded speech to the 4th Russian Energy Week (REW), which is taking place in Russia from October 13-15.

Pham said Viet Nam is drafting a National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2045, which sets three major orientations in energy restructuring:

(i) Diversification of energy resources, with a focus on development of clean and renewable energy;

(ii) Introduction of a roadmap for active reduction of fossil fuels;

(iii) Promotion of economical, efficient and sustainable use of energy.

Regarding Viet Nam-Russia ties, PM Pham affirmed that Viet Nam always treasures the traditional friendship with Russia.

Pham stressed that oil and gas cooperation is an important pillar in Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership, with many effective energy projects being underway in countries, paving the way for the two nations to further expand cooperation to renewable, clean and green energy.

Viet Nam will continue improving its institution, policies and laws to support the development of energy sector, promote public-private partnership, and create favorable conditions for investors from Russia and other countries to invest in the energy sector, PM pledged.

The Vietnamese Government chief underlined the important role of Russia in the global energy market, expressing his belief that the REW will help promote dialogue and cooperation between nations, particularly the public–private partnership in driving the energy sector forward for the common benefits of countries.

First held in 2017, the REV serves as a platform for leaders from many countries, international organizations and major energy businesses to discuss main challenges faced by the energy sector and topical problems involving the development of various industries like gas, oil, coal among others.
