HCMC to announce new COVID-19 response plan

VGP – Ho Chi Minh City, the current epicenter of Viet Nam’s fourth COVID-19 wave, is expected to announce a new COVID-19 response plan on Thursday morning.

Economic recovery measures are also expected to be released at a press briefing tomorrow morning.

The southern metropolis has documented 380,870 COVID-19 infections cases since the fourth COVID-19 wave began in late April.

After undergoing more than 120 days of social distancing, positive signals have been recorded with 11 district-level units said they the pandemic has been brought under control, namely District 7, Cu Chi, Can Gio, Nha Be, District 5, Go Vap, Phu Nhuan, Thu Duc City, Tan Binh, District 1, and District 3.

Vaccine coverage is a key for the southern hub to ease social distancing measures and gradually restore socio-economic activities. Citizens are encouraged to continue strict implementation of the Ministry of Health’s 5K message to ensure safety against COVID-19.

To date, more than 95 percent of the city’s residents aged over 18 have received the first COVID-19 vaccine jab. Authorities are stepping up vaccine rollout to cover all adults with the second dose./.
